Vintage Film Festival coming to your local public library

Port Hope program

For the first time, the VFF is presenting  mini festivals prior to the festival proper, in partnership with the Cobourg Public Library and the Port Hope Public Library. These events will be free of charge.

On Wednesday evening, October 6, at the Port Hope Public Library, VFF will present a program of films just like an old-time movie show.

Here is the program.

7.00 pm Churchill's Island (1941) National Film Board of Canada, narrated by Lorne Green
Documentary about the defence of Britain in World War 2. Received the NFB's first  Oscar and the first  ever given to a documentary.

7.25 pm  Vintage cartoon

7.35 pm Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (1940)
Buster Crabbe in the first instalment of this famous sci-fi serial.

7.55 pm Chaplin silent comedy (pre 1920)

8.15 pm The Cat's Paw (1934) Harold Lloyd is a naive Chinese missionary who is accidentally elected mayor of Los Angeles when he returns to America to seek a wife..
