2009 Scholarship Winners
The Vintage Film Festival Committee members are pleased to announce this year three Marie Dressler Scholarships of $1,000 each would be presented to qualifying graduate students from Cobourg and Port Hope High schools. We congratulate the following winners:
THOMAS HENDERSON
A graduate of Cobourg District Collegiate Institute West, Tom Henderson is a well qualified recipient of this year’s Marie Dressler Scholarship Award. This Fall he began a four year course of studies at Ryerson University for Image Arts-New Media, exploring new creative ways to produce films. Tom’s teachers describe him as a high energy, creative, very determined student with a marvelous sense of humour. At the Zoom Film Festival, he won the Adjudicators’ Award for Complexity of Animation.
Tom has been an Honour Roll student for all four years; played in the Concert band; was on the swim team, and made time to put many hours into community work. We wish him success in the future.
JULIANA WILTON
A graduate of Port Hope High School, we are delighted Julie applied for the Award. This Fall she began a four year course at Humber College specializing in Film and Media Production. This course covers a wide spectrum of the film industry and Julie looks forward to deciding which aspect she wants to pursue when she graduates.
Julie has been an Honour Roll student throughout her high school years, receiving an Ontario School Certificate and the 2008 Math award. She has participated in filming and editing documentaries and has shown an interest in photography.
Julie’s teachers speak highly of her involvement not only in school but also in the community, and holding down a part-time job. She relates well to people of all ages and demonstrates leadership skills. We wish her success in the future.

Scott’s continuing education will cover many of the behind the scenes work, including lighting for stage and screen productions.
Scott’s teachers describe him as organized, knowledgeable, at ease whether on a baseball diamond, playing music with friends or in the community where he gives many volunteer hours. We wish him success in the future.
